Jimmy Johansmeyer

Class of 1987

Where do you currently live?

I currently live nearby in West Haven.

What is your current job/year in school?

I am the Co-producer of Pantochino Productions Inc. We are a new theatre company for family audiences in the New Haven Area. This year, we are performing our entire season at the Milford Arts Center (at the train station). In addition to the four productions we will produce, Pantochino is also opening “Pantochino Studios” at the former St. Ann School. Here, we will teach theatre, acting, dance and improv to young actors 7-12 years old. Also, we are starting a Teen Theatre for those 13 years old and up. Our first production will be “Godspell Jr.” When not at Pantochino, I am also a freelance actor and costume designer and travel all over the country.

What was your educational path after graduating from St. Mary School?

Following St. Mary School, I attended Notre Dame West Haven, then to Marist College where gained a B.A. in English Literature. Last year, I received the Broadway World Award for Best Actor in Connecticut for my performances in Pantochino’s “The Little Dog Laughed,” a play by Douglas Carter Beane.

Do you feel SMS provided you with a foundation for your future?

St. Mary School provided me with a solid foundation. I learned academic discipline, social skills and creative expression.

What advice can you give to our students?

Work hard! Study! Take advantage of every opportunity that you are given!
