Mrs. Birge says, “My favorite aspect of teaching at Saint Mary School is working with students in a Catholic School setting. I also appreciate the connection between family – home – school – parish – community. Everyone at Saint Mary School strives to live the mission of our school in their daily lives. I am the product of Catholic education – and truly understand the value and importance of a parochial foundation. As an active member of the parish, school, and community, I honestly look forward to each day, and treasure the many wonderful children and adults I encounter along the way. “

Edward Bonessi will be teaching Spanish in grades K-8. He earned his BA from the University of Connecticut and began his teaching career in the Milford Public Schools in 2014. Currently, Mr. Bonessi studies at Southern Connecticut State University in pursuit of his Master’s. He was born and raised in Milford and he is a parishioner of St. Agnes Church. Suzanne DeCarlo taught at Saint Mary School for several years, as a Kindergarten teacher and as a teacher of first and second graders. She is now using her years of experience and is an Educational Consultant for the school. She completed her undergraduate studies in Early Childhood Education with a dual degree in Psychology and Social Sciences from Southern Connecticut State University and also holds Connecticut teaching certification for grades K-6.
Mrs. DeCarlo enjoys hiking with her Rottweiler, Amica, and traveling (especially to Florida) along with a new hobby -genealogy!!
“My greatest passion in teaching is to bring the joy of learning to each and every child that passes through my classroom!”
Today’s Teacher Spotlight is shining on our Educational Consultant Mrs. Suzanne DeCarlo!
As an educator, Mrs. DeCarlo’s goal is to provide an environment where every child experiences acceptance, encouragement, fairness, respect, trust, and positive recognition as individuals.
Did you know that she is a pit crew member (unofficial) of a Formula 2000 race car? She is traveling the East Coast prepping the car before races and will even be heading to Watkins Glen, NY this weekend! When not in school, Mrs. DeCarloe enjoys snorkeling with the fishes in the Caribbean – she even encountered a shark in Key West! A goal which she is training for, is a hike up Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire. And of course, being a Grandma to her 2 year old grandson, Enzo, is joy, pure & simple!
When she was in school her favorite subject was handwriting. She thinks the art of penmanship brings out the style and personality of the individual writers. She hopes someday the DeCarlo Font will be available on everyone’s PC.
Her advice to all is “the world is full of nice people, if you can’t find one, be one!”
