Principal – Frank Lacerenza
Frank Lacerenza has been Principal at Saint Mary School since September 1991. He has his B.A. in History and Elementary Education from Iona College, his M.A. in Supervision and Administration from Fairfield University and his Certificate in Catholic School Leadership from Sacred Heart University.
Mr. Lacerenza is married, with children and grandchildren. What many students don’t know is that he plays the drums for several local bands and groups!

Mr. Lacerenza is a former member of the Commission on Independent Schools for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. As such, he occasionally chairs school accreditation teams for NEASC. He is also a former member of the Hartford Archdiocesan Principal’s Advisory Committee and past Chair of the New Haven area Catholic School Principals.

It won’t surprise many that Mr. Lacerenza’s teaching motto & favorite quote is, “Live the Message of Jesus!”
Did you know that he is a drummer who once played a lot of jazz and even 60’s & 70’s rock?
Some of his favorite things to do outside of school are read, watch movies and take walks.
An avid history buff, Mr. Lacerenza’s favorite subject when he was in school was history.
The best advice he can give his students as they continue their education is, “Always try your best and be yourself!”
Office Manager/Secretary – Christina Salzillo
Christina Salzillo started at SMS as a Kindergarten Assistant from 1996-2006 and then in 2006 she became School Secretary. She resides in Milford with her husband Joe and two children Joe and Michelle who both graduated from St. Mary School.
She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, & taking long walks on the beach with her dog Marcello.
“Working at St. Mary School, I feel our staff is dedicated to the children and that I am part of a family based community.”
Today’s Staff Spotlight is shining on the woman who holds SMS together, our Secretary Mrs. Christina Salzillo.
Her favroite quote is, “Always remember: Be kind, be fair, be honest, be true and all these things will come back to you!”
Did you know that her favorite subject in school was science and that one of her first jobs was working for the New York Yankees?
Some of the things she enjoys doing outside of school are taking long walks on the beach, cooking and spending time with her family & friends.
Mrs. Salzillo’s advice to her students is, “All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them”
Office/Teacher Assistant – Suzane Jagoe
Suzanne Jagoe is a St. Mary’s school alumni. She was employed for the last 12 years with the city of Milford public school system.
She is happy to be working back at her old school. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Did you know that Sue attended St. Mary School from 1st – 8th grade (her favorite subject was spelling)?
Sue loves reptiles (pictured here with Sally the snake) and walking her dog Toby down at the beach.
Her advice for students is, “Always try your hardest and never give up!”
Office/Teacher Assistant – Barbara Jean Lonardo
Barbara Jean Lonardo has worked at SMS since 2002. “The children and the extended SMS family”are her favorite things about working at St. Mary. School.
Before becoming a stay at home mom after her daughter was born, she worked at Casualty and Life Insurance Agency in Hamden. She spends most of her free time with her family and friends.
Today’s Staff Spotlight is shining on office aide and ‘will help out in any way’ Mrs. Barbara Jean Lonardo!
Mrs. Lonardo’s favorite motto is, “Everything happens for a reason!”
Something you might not know about her is that she plays the piano!
Some of her favorite things to do outside of school are hang out with her family & friends and play tennis.
Mrs. Lonardo’s favorite subject when she was in school was math and the best advice she can give to her students as they continue their education is, Aalways do your best and believe in yourself!”
Dir. of Advancement and Marketing – April Bryant
April has been doing the Marketing for St. Mary School since she started as a volunteer serving on the Parish School Board in 2011. She has 2 children currently attending St. Mary School and 1 alumni in high school. She has been an active parent volunteer in many capacities for the past 12 years. April graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelors in Marketing, and before she decided to stay home with her young children, she worked in Market Research as a Senior Project Manager at Millward Brown.
Previous to this position, she sat on both the Home School Association Board and the Parish School Board. She will also continue her role as the SMS Grandparents Club Chairperson. In her free time April enjoys relaxing poolside or beachside with her friends and family.
